Debit/ATM Cards
We support the use of Debit/ATM cards on this website. However, this feature has been suspended and should be reactivated sometime in October 2015.
Requirements
- You should get your passport photograph digitised using a scanner or a digital camera. The acceptable picture format is JPEG.
- Download the Transcript Label and attach to all academic transcripts that will be posted to the Postgraduate College, Obafemi Awolowo University (this is REQUIRED).
- Details of three confidential referees must be provided.
- The application process is not complete until the candidate has signed the "Declaration Section" and received an email confirming the receipt of the application data by the Postgraduate College.
- Afterwards, the progress of the application form can be monitored on this website.
Paying the Application Processing Fee
An Application Processing Fee worth Fifteen Thousand Naira (N15,000) for Regular Programmes and Twenty Thousand Naira (N20,000) for Professional Programmes has to be paid before each application can be processed by the Postgraduate College. You will be required to specify the programme before making payment. Payment can be made using most Interswitch cards, MasterCard or Verve Card. You need to provide your Card Number e.g. 1111222233334444, the Card's Expiry Date e.g. Jan 2010 and the four-digit PIN to make the payment. As an alternative, you can also purchase a NetQue Postgraduate Application Scratch Card from the banks (Zenith or Skye) to make the payment. Submitting Your Application Form For Processing
Once payment has been received, complete all sections using the left menu as a guide. Cross-check all the details provided for the application and then SUBMIT/CLOSE your online application form. Upon submitting your application form, your details will be forwarded to the academic programme of your choice. This begins your application form’s admission process. Your form will move through the academic programme, Department’s Postgraduate Committee, Faculty Postgraduate Committee and the Postgraduate College Board.
Supporting Documents
Two (2) sets of supporting documents including two (2) Passport Photographs, Original Transcripts of all relevant degrees earned,
Secondary School Leaving Certificate (e.g. GCE/NECO/WASC/SSCE/O-Level), NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate (for Nigerians)
and other relevant documents are required for the processing of your application. Without your supporting documents, your application will not be processed.

Monitoring the Application Process
After completing and submitting your online application form, you can login to monitor the progress/status of your application online. Once admission is offered to you, you will be notified by email (and SMS) and the admission letter will be sent to your email address.
Important Notes on Admission
- Using your email account, create an account online. A password will be mailed to your account. Provide all required information.
- Pay the Application Processing Fee using any ATM Card or the OAU Prospective Application Scratch Card. After payment is entered, you will be allowed to proceed to all other sections of the application form.
- Using the address above, request your former institutions to forward your Academic Transcript(s) directly to your preferred Department and the Postgraduate College. Such envelopes should be marked at the top-left with your Form Number. These have to be received before decisions are made on admissions.
- Nigerian applicants are required to provide NYSC certificates.
- Provide details for three (3) confidential referees. Each of these must have active email addresses through which they may be contacted. Failure of your referees to respond automatically negates your application form. Obtain the permission of such individuals before using them as your confidential referees.
- If conditions in items 4 - 6 are not met, your application WILL NOT be processed.
- Upload your passport photograph. This step is not optional. The only accepted format is JPEG. Other file formats are not acceptable.
Admission Requirement for Postgraduate Programmes
- OAU First Degree Matriculation Requirements:
- In addition to the admission requirements as published, candidates should note that in accordance with the University's regulation, they should satisfy the 'O' Level First degree matriculation requirements of the Obafemi Awolowo University i.e. Five 'O' Level credit passes at not more than two sittings including English Language for ALL disciplines and Mathematics for ALL Science-based disciplines, Economics and Environmental Design and Management.
- Postgraduate Diploma Programmes:
- An applicant for admission to Postgraduate Diploma of the University shall be a graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University or any other approved University.
- Master's Degree Programme:
- Applicants shall normally possess not lower than Second Class (Lower Division) Honours degree of the Obafemi Awolowo University or any other approved University.
- Master of Philosophy Degree Programme:
- Applicants shall normally possess not lower than Second Class (Upper Division) Honours degree of the Obafemi Awolowo University or any other approved University. Candidates with Masters Degree are also eligible for admission.
- Doctor of Philosophy Degree Programme:
- Candidates shall normally have obtained not less than a Weighted Average of not less than 60 per cent (B+) in the Master's Degree course work; and all Candidates shall have presented and passed a Master's Degree with research thesis.
Obafemi Awolowo University presently accepts only candidates with university degrees (plus postgraduate diploma) from Obafemi Awolowo University or any other approved university except where expressly stated and approved by the Senate of the University.
